Hi there, i'm leslie!

I founded Mākyago in 2016, twelve years after starting my career in the public good. I’ve worked in charter and district schools, in district leadership and in a variety of roles mobilizing people and developing their leadership in the non-profit and public sectors. A move East from California prompted me to reflect on how I might best contribute to the causes I care most about. With much encouragement from colleagues and friends, I decided to make the leap from spending my energy in one organization toward helping many organizations advance their agendas and impact.

Often working in start-up environments - new school, new team, new role, new administration - I draw on many years serving as a “Jill of all trades”. I also bring experience in strategy, organizational design, innovation, stakeholder engagement and project management from serving organizations like BUILD, Teach For America and the San Francisco Unified School District.

Mākyago was designed to support organizations in the areas that will literally make them “go”, accelerating their growth, their depth, and their impact. Whether its programmatic redesign, launching and managing a new initiative, or an engagement to engage your users, our mission is to provide the tools, frameworks, and facilitation to get you moving.

I do the bulk of the work around here as Mākyago gets started and am always looking for collaborators to bring their genius and expertise to bear in serving clients. .
